On Wednesday October 16th, 2024, we will be hosting the October Monthly Family Support Meeting on Zoom from 4:00pm- 5:30pm with Rachel Nemhauser.
This month we are honored to have Rachel share with us about Guardianship.
Rachel has been an active member of the disability community since 2009, and is passionate about disability advocacy, and supporting families through all the joys and challenges of raising their children. She is a former two-term member of the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council and has worked at The Arc of King County since 2015. She is currently the Director of Information and Family Support at The Arc and has worked with hundreds of families as they navigate complex systems, advocate for their sons and daughters, and learn to support their children as people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community. Rachel is also the parent of a 20-year-old autistic son, and feels strongly about self-determination and the importance of amplifying the voices of marginalized and underserved individuals.
This is a friendly reminder that VFAAB has monthly virtual meetings every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 4:00-5:30 PM. These meetings are for Vietnamese families with children with Autism/Developmental Delays to build community, learn about Autism and the services available, and share their learned experiences. We invite a guest speaker to come speak and Vietnamese interpretation is provided.
